"Your body is capable of anything, it’s your mind you have to convince”
As someone who has been active and involved in sport and fitness from a young age, I've been fortunate enough take a lot away from it all. I feel I now have the knowledge and experience to help other people reach their own personal fitness goals.
Being in the Army Cadets is probably what got me so heavily into fitness in the first place. I would take part in physical training and compete in athletic competitions as well as team sporting competitions. I then went on to coach athletics, football and hockey within the cadets.
It’s probably the competitive nature of it all that kept me so interested in sport and fitness, and I was always striving to be better, be faster, be stronger.
I’ve been consistently using the gym since I was old enough to have a membership. At first, I was a total cardio bunny, and I definitely went through a stage of being obsessed with the aesthetics of it all. It took me a good few years to realise excessive cardio wasn’t going to get me the kind of results I was looking for, and that’s when I found a love for weight lifting.
These days, it’s more mental than physical for me. Training is my “me time”, my stress relief. I get a great buzz from pushing my weights and feeling stronger now rather than how my body actually looks in the mirror. I hope to inspire other people to also find a love for training and coming to the gym, and for them to discover the many benefits there are of training, other than just how it changes our physical appearances. I want my clients to realise it isn’t something that should be done as a chore or a punishment, and instead something that can be enjoyed.
