Coronavirus (COVID-19): Information For members
At PureGym we remain committed to doing everything we can to continue supporting our members, colleagues and self-employed personal trainers during these challenging times.
Following the advice from UK Government to observe social distancing rules we are making additional changes within our clubs. The majority of PureGym clubs therefore remain open but we are taking additional steps so that our members and colleagues can observe new disciplines with respect to social distancing.
As some gyms are temporarily closed, please check your gym's homepage before you visit to make sure it is open. Just use the gym finder to find your gym and look out for a closure message. All members now have full access to any PureGym in the UK, so if your home gym is closed, you can use any other club in your area.

We may reduce the opening hours of your club over the coming weeks, please check your gym homepage for the latest details. Go to the gym finder to find your gym's homepage.

Certain items of equipment will be temporarily removed from use, to ensure the minimum 2 metre social distance, as advised by the Government, is maintained
-
Personal Trainers will continue to operate where possible, please check directly with your PT
Additional steps we recommend you take
We know that for many of you the gym is an important part of your lifestyle and, staying fit and well is now more important than ever. If you do wish to keep training, please follow these simple steps:
- Ensure you are well enough to train. If you are showing any symptoms of Coronavirus, please stay away from the gym
- Check the latest opening hours on your gym page of our website
- Check the App before you visit to ensure that the club is not too busy and that you will be allowed access
- When in the club, leave a 2 metre distance between you and other members, to ensure that we all respect the need for social distancing
- Continue to take extra care to protect yourself and others while in the club, using the additional hygiene measures we already have in place
We will continue to do what we can to provide you with a safe and hygienic place to train. Given the on-going uncertainty we may need to make further changes and we will update you if this is the case. Thank you for your continued support and patience as we work this through.

Keeping our members and colleagues safe and healthy - FAQs
-
At PureGym, the health and safety of our members, colleagues and self-employed personal trainers is our top priority.
With this in mind, we have made some significant changes to how our gyms operate, including cancelling all classes and limiting the number of people in a gym to a maximum of 100 at any one time.
In line with PHE guidance, we have increased the level of cleaning and hygiene in our gyms, including:
- Increasing the frequency of cleaning and sanitisation in our gyms, especially high touch areas such as pin pads, door handles, lockers, equipment etc.
- Ensuring soap dispensers and hand sanitisers remain filled
- Providing additional cleaning stations in all gyms to allow members to self-clean equipment before and after use
- Educating and reminding members and colleagues of the importance of good hygiene in the gym
Within PureGym we have advised all colleagues and Personal Trainers on what to do when returning from foreign travel, in line with PHE recommendations.
If we are notified of any issue in your gym, or if another member contracts the virus, we will notify you immediately and undertake a full deep clean of the club. For the latest information, please refer to the FAQs on this page.

PureGym members are encouraged to help reduce the spread of the virus through good personal hygiene. This includes:
- Frequent hand washing (wash your hands for 20 seconds) and hand sanitising during your visits
- Making full use of the soap, sanitisers and cleaning items available
- Covering your mouth and nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing and dispose of the tissue in the bin after use
- Familiarise yourself with the latest guidance from PHE and do not visit the gym if you are displaying symptoms of COVID-19 and are advised to self-isolate
- Follow Government guidance if you are a returning traveller
We are monitoring the situation closely in all of our gyms and hygiene is the number one priority for our Gym Teams.
If you need personal health advice specifically in relation to Coronavirus (COVID-19), you should call the NHS 111 service or your GP. Please do not attend your GP or emergency department without phoning in advance.

Yes, you can freeze your membership for free within the members’ area.
We understand that some members are concerned about safety in the gym. Your health and safety is our number one priority and so we have waived the usual fee to freeze a membership for all current members for 1 month during the outbreak of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). This means that you do not have to cancel and won’t need to pay a joining fee when you return.
PureGym is committed to providing our members with a safe and hygienic space to exercise in and we are taking the outbreak of Coronavirus extremely seriously. We understand that at this current time, some members do not wish to use the gym and other members may need to self-isolate to prevent the virus from spreading.
Freezing your membership doesn't mean freezing your fitness goals though - you can access free home workouts on our app, blog and social channels to help keep yourself fit and healthy during this time.
